Year 3 - Natural History Museum

On Friday 28th September the Year 3 classes visited the Natural History Museum as part of their IPC topic, Footprints from the Past. The children enjoyed dressing up as Dino-scientists and were delighted when other visitors to the museum said that they looked like real scientists! And that is exactly what they were as they developed scientific skills of observation and drawing conclusions from evidence. They looked closely at prehistoric skeletons, looking for evidence to decide how their animal moved and ate as well as thinking about where it lived. They then had to decide whether or not it was a dinosaur. They also used clues to identify a mystery dinosaur! The rest of the time was spent enjoying interactive games and looking at dinosaur skeletons and huge working models. We were very proud of their learning and behaviour. We would like to thank the parents who gave up a day to come with us to work with small groups.
