Chinese New Year

6R showed the rest of the school what they have learnt about Chinese New Year on Friday 25th January.
It is celebrated this year on the 10th February. This year it is the year of the snake.

As the Chinese use the Lunar calendar for their festivals the date of Chinese New Year changes from year to year. The date corresponds to the new moon (black moon) in either late January or February. Traditionally celebrations last for fifteen days, ending on the date of the full moon. In China the public holiday lasts for three days and this is the biggest celebration of the year.

Charming and good thinkers. Love the finer things in life, so only the best is good enough. Good at making and saving money. Patient, charming and wise. Prefer not to rely on other people.

Attendance

Regular school attendance is the key to success and once a child’s attendance falls below 95%, progress is hampered and pupils find it difficult to catch up on vital work that is missed. Please make every effort to get your child to school on time each day. Some pupils are missing important information because they are late for registration. Pupils with high attendance figures make good progress and make the best of their opportunities in school.
Thank you,
Mrs Green

New Governors

I'm delighted to report that we have 2 new governors. Jane Wooders was nominated for the vacant Parent Governor post and as her nomination was uncontested she is appointed to the post. In addition, Robyn Gullifer was appointed as a new Staff Governor just before Christmas. We are really pleased to have them as new members of the team.
